Biodegradation of organo-metallic pollutants in distillery wastewater employing a bioaugmentation process

The objective of this work was to study the potential a constructed bacterial consortium (comprised three strains: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Bacillus cereus, and anthracis) treat distillery wastewater via bioaugmentation process. discharged showed elevated total ammonium nitrogen (195.0 ± 1.24 mg L?1), dissolved solids (25980.6 8.09 chemical oxygen demand (20534.5 3.12 biological L?1). High concentration heavy metals, phenolic organo-metallic compounds were also detected. Results that growing in at 37 °C supplemented with 1% glucose achieved best color reduction (up 90%) 144 h. physico-chemical quality treated improved by 50%–70%. Furthermore, many major organic pollutants present degraded below detection limit active biotransformation biodegradation. Heavy metals biosorbed consortium, ligninolytic enzymes such as Lip MnP played an important role degradation pollutants. therefore offered sustainable effective solution wastewater.
